Sunrise Park resort is located in the White Mountains, and is the largest ski resort in Arizona. The 65 ski runs span the peaks of three mountains in the White Mountains range: Sunrise peak, apache Peak and Cyclone Circle. The White Mountains are located on the eastern edge of Arizona, with the resort located about 200 miles east of Phoenix. Lodging at Sunrise park resort includes Sunrise Park Lodge, located near Sunrise lake and offer a view of the ski slopes. Also available is a campground and RV park. Sunrise park resort is open year around, offering a range of activities for all weather. During the summer, scenic lift rides, mountain biking and hiking are attractions. At the Sunrise lake, one can rent a boat from the marina and go fishing.

Sunrise Ski Area

Sunrise park boasts some of the best skiing in the western US. Of the 65 runs total; 37% are for beginner, 42% for intermediate and 21% for advanced skiers. There are 10 lifts servicing the slopes that that have a16,000 skiers per hour uphill lift capacity. The slopes are extra wide to enjoy a ride down the slopes unimpeded. The Cyclone Circle peak offers the most advanced slopes. The Sunrise ski are also features Terrain Park. Here, there is a snow half pipe and an event area. The event area includes ski jumps for skiers of all levels. Lessons are available for skiers of all skill levels and ages. Both group and personal instruction is available. There is also a variety of classes available for children.

Sunrise Ski Arizona

Not only do ski resorts in Arizona provide great slopes for skiing, Sunrise park also has ample space reserved for other winter sports. The resort has separate trails for snowboarding. There are also over 13 miles of groomed cross country trails. A separate area is reserved for tubing, and sleigh rides are also available. Like many resorts in Arizona, Sunrise park has accommodations catering to families. There is a children’s “ski-wee” area, where kids can learn and practice skiing. There are also supervised activities available to provide childcare. The ski season in Arizona generally spans from December through April. The actual ski season at Sunrise, though, is largely dependent on the amount of snowfall available. The average snowfall is 250 inches, with 80 acres of snow making capacity.
