Ski Reports

Ski reports, found in magazines and on the Internet, publish a variety of information for the savvy skier. The information found in these reports typically covers everything a skier will want to know about a ski destination. This information can include equipment reviews, snow reports for a large number of locations, lodgings and accommodations at various resorts, ticket prices and shops. These reports when they come from the Internet can also provide skiers with live video of resort locations as well as up to the minute snow forecasts.

Two of the most prominent Internet-based ski report websites are SkiReport.com and OnTheSnow.com. These websites feature deals on travel and skiing gear. They show weather, snowfall and ski reports for popular destinations around the world, typically breaking them up by general geographic location. For example, they feature the West, Midwest, Mid Atlantic, East, and Rocky Mountain portions of the United States and North America as well as east and west Canada, Europe, and the Southern Hemisphere, including Australia and North America. From these broad categories, browsers can click on specific areas they want to travel to in order to see where the best snowfall is.

SkiReport.com also features an up to date snow guide called “powder points,” which tells viewers where snowfall is best on any particular day they might want to get away and do some skiing. OnTheSnow.com on the other hand features a list of the day’s most popular destinations for snow sports year round. These magazines and websites also give readers and viewers information on all kinds of news within the winter sport world, to include new laws, changing resort and mountain statistics, and innovations in equipment and gear, as well as any recall on malfunctioning or defective equipment.

Lake Tahoe Ski Report

One favorite feature of magazines and web-based ski reports is the North Lake Tahoe resort. Lake Tahoe offers year round activities for the outdoors lover, including skiing and snowboarding in the winter and hiking, biking, boating, and golfing in the summer months. Lake Tahoe resorts as well as many others, especially the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, will appear in all four seasons on ski reports with the understanding that a winter skier may also be a summer hiker or biker, if he or she can’t get to the New Zealand or Argentina for skiing and snowboarding in the summer months.
