Colorado offers some of the most popular and renowned slopes for skiing. There are over 25 ski resorts, providing some of the roughest terrain for the best skiers. Some resorts, such as Silverton, provide only expert slopes. Most resorts, though, accommodate families and provide lesions for skiers to learn and improve their techniques. The skiing season in Colorado starts around November and continues through the end of March or April. The average snowfall in Colorado ranges from 200 inches to 350 inches. Vail is the largest ski resort in Colorado, and indeed also in the US. The resort is located about 100 miles due west of Denver. The ski area is located on Vail Mountain, while the quant yet upscale town of Vail is where lodging and accommodations are located. With 5,289 acres of skiable terrain, there is plenty of room even when the resort is crowded. The terrain of the 193 trails is suitable for expert and beginner skiers: 28% beginner, 32% intermediate and 40% expert.

Western Colorado is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountain range. The ski resorts in Colorado are located in the Rockies, in the western half of the state. A majority of resorts are located to the west and southwest of Denver.

Keystone Ski Resort Colorado

Keystone ski resort is located just 90 miles west of Denver. The winter season starts in November and continues through March, with an average snowfall of 230 inches. There are 121 trails spread over three mountains: Dercum Mountain, North Peak and The Outback. Even though half of the terrain is classified for expert skiers, there are still trails suitable for les experience skiers: 19% beginner, 32% intermediate, 49% expert. The ski area offers world-class trails for both skiers and snowboarders, including the largest night skiing area of the US, tree skiing, alpine bowl skiing and a terrain park. Other activities include, among others, snowcat tours, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, fly fishing, sleigh rides and tubing. Lessons are available for skiing, snowboarding and activities for all ages and skill levels. Day care is available for children ages 2 months to 6 years old. Lodging is available at the small villages surrounding Keystone Lake. There are a number of rental condos, townhouses, hotels and cabins to choose from. Conference facilities are also available. Fine dining is to be found both in the villages and around the slopes.
